James Allen Orlemann, age 78, passed away on June 11, 2025. He was born on October 19, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Arthur Orlemann, Sr. and Rosella (Brinker) Orlemann. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Arthur Orlemann Jr.. He is survived by his wife, Diana (Benore) Orlemann; children, Kelley (Greg) Hand, Valerie (Ben) Roberts, Philip Orlemann; grandchildren: Sophie (Jared) Weingartz, and Lucas James Roberts; sister, Cynthia Orlemann. Jim graduated from Start High School, Toledo, Ohio 1964 and went on to obtain his Bachelor Science degree in Chemical Engineering 1969 at the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio as well as his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, 1973 also from the University of Toledo.
Jim began working at the Ohio Department of Health in Bowling Green, Ohio in June 1969. He transferred to the Ohio EPA when the division of Air Pollution was created, and transferred to the Central Office in Columbus in 1978. He retired as Assistant Chief, Division of Air Pollution in 2020 after working 41 continuous years in the field of Air Pollution. He went on to work another 12 years as a consulting engineer in the field of Air Pollution.
Jim was an avid sportsman and enjoyed playing softball and bowling in a variety of leagues. He also loved to design and care for the landscaping at home and at his church building, wanting it to always reflect the beauty of God’s creation.
Jim was a longtime member and deacon in the United Church of God in Columbus, Ohio. He was a student of the Bible, always striving to learn more and confirm his faith. He truly believed that God the Father was working in his life and in Christ’s sacrifice for us. He maintained his faith and hope in God’s ultimate plan that at the return of Jesus Christ a resurrection to spirit life will take place for all who have been God's faithful servants.
He was a longtime member of the United Church of God, Etna, Ohio
Friends may gather for visitation on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the NEWCOMER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43231, and again on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 10:00am until time of funeral service at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Northlawn Memory Gardens.
Service will be conducted by Elder James Hopkins, United Church of God
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to be made to Pre Born.
