James L. Phelps, a faithful man and a beloved friend, passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on June 11, 1940, in Somerset, Kentucky, James had a warm and welcoming spirit that made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved to chat and never knew a stranger, always ready with a joke or a smile.

James proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1961, followed by a period in the Air National Guard. He took great pride in his military service, which shaped much of his character. After his time in the military, James retired from Borden, where he dedicated many years of his life to his work.

In his personal life, James was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his loving daughters, Mary Miller and Beverly (Craig) Fry, and cherished grandchildren Henry, Jessica, and Wesley. His sister, Doris "Tootie" Daulton, also survives him, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry his memory forward.

James enjoyed various hobbies and interests. He had a passion for technology and was particularly fond of computers and his television. He loved watching Fox News, as well as cheering for the Buckeyes and the Reds, which reflected his vibrant personality and zest for life.

James is now reunited in peace with his father Ray (Ruby), mother Delora, wife Katharine F. Phelps, and half-sister Nancy. His legacy lives on through the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him, and he will be missed deeply.

Family and friends may call at Grove City Vineyard Church on Friday, August 22, 2025 for a Celebration of Life from 2-3, with a Memorial Service starting at 3pm.
