James R Kennedy, 68 of Grove City, passed away from Lewy Body Dementia on January 24, 2014 at Monterey Care Center. Born on February 26, 1945 to the late Howard and Edith (Eckhart) Kennedy in Portsmouth, OH. Graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1963 and The Ohio State University in 1968 with degrees in chemistry and business. James was a kind and caring person. He worked at General Motors-Delphi for 33 years in the purchasing department. He loved cars, attended car shows, belonged to several car clubs, loved to buy and sell cars, enjoyed helping people find cars. Jim was a regular at the Grove City Library every Saturday. Survived by wife of 43 years, Dianne (Hall) Kennedy whom he married on May 2, 1970, daughter Karen (Michael) Black, grandsons Christopher, Jonathan and Cameron Black and brother Paul (Jo) Kennedy, nephews Benjamin Payne, John Paul Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy, David Schomburg and Erik Brammer, nieces Susie Reed, Jen Kanke, Allison Wilson, Beth Brammer, Heather Hall and Emmalee Hall, sister-in-laws Carolyn Brammer, Carolyn Hall and Janet (John) Schomburg, brother-in-law Philip (Louise) Hall. Preceded in death by sister Martha Payne.
Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5 to 8pm.
Funeral service on Friday at 1pm with Pastor Doug Jenkins officiating. Burial to follow at Grove City Cemetery.
