James Roy Steinmetz, Sr. age 74 of Forrest City, Arkansas died Sunday, February 16, 2014. He was born February 25, 1939, the son of Charles William Steinmetz, Sr. (Lefty) and Margaret Martin Steinmetz Zulovitz (Tudy).
He moved to Forrest City Arkansas in 1977 to work at Sanyo as a Quality Control Engineer. He retired from there in March 2000. He graduated from Arkansas State University with a BA in Business Administration in May 2001. After his retirement from Sanyo, he went to work for Langston Companies in West Memphis, Arkansas as Quality Manager and recently received an award from there for ten years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion. Over the years he was involved in many community activities and organizations in Forrest City. He was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Steinmetz married Carol Kincaid in 1978 (originally from Columbus, Ohio, now living in Forrest City, Arkansas) and she survives him along with five sons, James Roy Steinmetz, Jr. (Kirsten) of Schenectady, New York , Steven Edward Steinmetz of Leavenworth, Kansas, Dwayne Kenneth Steinmetz, Brian David Steinmetz and Todd Alan Steinmetz, all of Forrest City, Arkansas. He is also survived by his granddaughter Abby Steinmetz, his sister, Peggy Zulovitz Perrill, of Ashville, Ohio, and his brother, Robert Eugene Steinmetz, of Grove City Ohio and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by dear cousins, Lorna Flaherty, Kaye Smith and Penny Wright of Grandview and Grove City, Ohio.
He was predeceased by his father and mother and his stepmother, Mary Snyder Steinmetz, stepfather, John Zulovitz, brother, Charles W. Steinmetz, Jr. and sisters, Sharon Steinmetz Curnutte and Patricia Ann Zulovitz.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. with services at 10:00 a.m. with an American Legion Honor Guard led by Jack Reber at Green Lawn Chapel, Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus Ohio, 43223 with interment at Green Lawn in the Steinmetz Family Plot in Lot 103.
