James Charles Vance
September 1, 1927 — February 18, 2017
James C. "Jim" Vance, age 89, passed peacefully under the care of Mt. Carmel Palliative Care on Saturday afternoon, February 18, 2017.
He was born on September 1, 1927 in Columbus to the late Dale and Leona (Ross) Vance. He was retired from the General Motors Corporation and also worked for Red Star Yeast Company for several years after his retirement.
Jim enjoyed fishing, bowling, and watching NASCAR races and was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan.
He is survived by wife of 59 years, Edna Vance; daughter, Betty Ann (Granville) Hinton; son, Tom (Jennifer) Davis; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Preceded in death by sons, James W. Vance and Timothy C. Vance.
Friends may call Thursday, February 23,2017 from 9 - 11 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
