James W. Allen, Sr.

James William Allen, Sr. passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Esselstein Allen; daughter, Christine DiGuilio; son, James W. Allen Jr. (Pamela); son, Carl K. Allen (Lisa); five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (David) Smith; brother, Kenneth Allen; and friend, Marilyn Sciore. He was preceded in death by his father, Brooks C. Allen; mother, Lucy Agnes (Henline) Allen; first wife, Louise (DeGour) Allen; brother, Brooks C. Allen Jr.
He was born July 5, 1924 in Weston, WV. He served in the Army during WWII earning two Bronze Stars. He retired from teaching in Columbus Public Schools. He was a 32 degree Mason and Past Master of a lodge near Fort Worth, Texas. Allen was an amateur radio operator, W8FJD, known as Fifty Jumpin' Doggies.
A cemetery chapel service with military honors will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11am in Kingwood Memorial Park, Lewis Center, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UMCOR, Advance 301670 Disaster Relief Projects, P.O. Box 9068, NY, NY 10087. Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
