Jane Arrowood (age 84) died on February 20 in her home of 55 years in Columbus, Ohio after a brief illness. She is survived by son Craig (Jana Messinger), daughter Lisa (Rob) Graham, grandchildren Ally, Charli & Addy Arrowood and Marcus Graham, sister Susan Scott, nephew Matt Scott and niece Meredith Kersting. She was preceded in death by Ben, her husband of 54 years and parents Charles & Ava Lauer. Jane took great pride in the fact that she was a nurse for 43 years. She was nicknamed “The General" due to her ability to take charge in any situation and know exactly what needed to be done. Spending time with her grandkids, playing cards, shopping and playing the slots at the casino were her favorite pastimes. Jane was a Camp Fire Girl in Huntington, West Virginia and she passed the love of that program on to her daughter acting as a club leader for 12 years and volunteering in multiple capacities for the Central Ohio Council of Camp Fire (now known as Camp Wyandot, Inc.) during the 70’s and 80’s. Her favorite volunteer work was for Camp Otonwe as Camp Nurse and then Camp Director. There will be a memorial for Jane and Ben at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 from 2pm to 4pm, Sunday, March 1, 2026. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Camp Wyandot.
The Newcomer family is honored to serve the Arrowood and Graham family. To leave a condolence, or to share a memory please visit the tribute section of the obituary page.
