Janet M Harper

Janet M. Harper, née Gower, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on May 2, 1961, in Norman, Oklahoma, Janet lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a vibrant spirit that touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Janet’s career journey was as diverse as it was inspiring. She initially served her community as a Police Officer in Valley View, where her commitment to safety and justice was unwavering. Following that time, Janet has spent the last six years in the office department at Giant Eagle, making many great friends over the years. 

Known for her love of country music and flowers in all their beautiful forms, Janet found joy in simple pleasures. Perhaps above all, she cherished spending time with her beloved husband, Stuart "Stu" Harper, often playfully keeping him in line with her affectionate presence. Her lively personality and devotion to family were constants that brought light and laughter into the lives of those around her.

Janet is survived by her loving husband, Stuart "Stu" Harper; her three children, Kyle Gower, Elizabeth Saboro, and Betina Gower; her niece, Heather McCoy; and eight grandchildren who adored their grandmother dearly. Alongside these close family members, she leaves behind many other relatives and friends whose lives she enriched with her kindness and generous spirit.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy E. Gower; her mother, Cecilia (Schlappie) Gower; two brothers; and one sister. Their memories remain treasured as part of her enduring legacy.

Immediate family will greet friends and family from 10am to 12pm, Friday, May 22, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions - Southwest, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. A burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery. 

Janet M. Harper’s life journey was one of service, love, and joy. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her. May she rest in peace.
