Janet Marie Huntzinger

Janet Marie (Lee) Huntzinger, 72, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at her home in Mesa, AZ. She was born on July 9, 1942 to Adal and Joseph Lee and grew up in Columbus, OH. She attended St. James the Less Catholic Grade School and graduated from Linden-McKinley High School. As a young adult, Janet worked several years as a bookkeeper at Columbus Southern Electric Company. While living and working in Columbus, she fell in love and married Donald Joseph Huntzinger II.

Shortly after they were married, Janet and her husband moved to Carmel, IN, where they raised four children and ran their own business (Circle Coin Shop) for eighteen years. Family was the single most important thing to Janet, and she cherished being a mother. However, she also enjoyed using her professional skills as a bookkeeper to manage the financial records of her family's business. Janet enjoyed spending time with friends. She was active in her women's club, and she had several beloved hobbies including jewelry making, cake decorating, and flower arranging. Janet had a fun-loving personality and truly enjoyed the humorous aspects of everyday life.

In 1990, Janet and her husband moved the family to Westerville, OH and began a new business venture, Janet Lee Jewelry. The business brought her and her husband great joy and many new adventures. They spent several months every year traveling around the United States promoting the business. In early 1998, she and her husband officially became snowbirds—living their winters in Mesa, AZ and summers in Westerville, OH. Janet and Donald were happily married for 42 wonderful years.

During the last ten years of her life, Janet battled Alzheimer's disease. Her loving husband, Donald, cared for her until his sudden death in 2009 at which point her daughters continued her care. Janet was able to remain in the comfort of her home thanks to the loving support and help of her family and in-home caregivers.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Janet will be missed by the many lives she touched. She is survived by her sons, Donald Joseph III (Suzanne) and Joseph (Emily) Huntzinger of Indianapolis, IN; her daughters, Jennifer (Ray) Kovach of Cave Creek, AZ and Lauren Huntzinger of Mesa, AZ; her granddaughter, Lindsey Huntzinger of Indianapolis, IN; her brother, Michael Lee of Englewood, FL; and her sister, Lisa Miller of Apache Junction, AZ.

A memorial service honoring Janet's life will be held on Saturday, August 16th at the Newcomer Funeral Home Northeast Chapel in Columbus, OH. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM and a memorial service will follow from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
