In Loving Memory of Janet Elaine Moen

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Janet Elaine Moen, on May 25, 2026 at the age of 90. Jan was born on February 10, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio to the late William and Marjorie Von Dach. 

Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Leroy Moen; her parents, Marjorie and William Von Dach; her sister, Judith Baker; her nephew, Bob Baker; and her great-nephew, Jayson Baker. 

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Moen) Preston; grandsons Dustin and Daniel Preston; her son, Mark and Sara Moen; grandson, Jordan Matz; nephew, Bill and Diana Baker; several great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. Janet is also remembered fondly by her two special lifelong friends, Donna Owens and Sherry Drake. 

Janet loved going to the movies, cooking, and baking. She entered cookies in the Ohio State Fair every year, earning several blue ribbons for her delicious creations. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her grandsons, creating cherished moments together. During the summers, when her children were young, Janet took them camping at many of Ohio’s state parks, fostering a love of nature and adventure in her family. 

Cherished for her warmth and generosity, Janet touched the lives of all who knew her. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the countless memories and the positive impact she left behind. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the stories we share.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43231 for calling hours from 9am – 11am with a memorial service starting at 11am with Pastor Tim Womack officiating. An inurnment will follow at Blendon Central Cemetery.
