Janet E. Peters

Janet E. Peters, 85, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026.

Janet was born on November 9, 1940, in Fostoria, Ohio, to the late Alfred and Lona (Bennett) Graber. Throughout her life, Janet was known for her hard work and adaptability, bringing her talents to many different businesses over the years.

A woman of many passions, Janet found great joy in creating beauty through painting and sewing. She loved the excitement of playing games and taking trips to the casino, always bringing an energetic and fun-loving spirit to everything she did. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who cherished time spent with her family.

Janet is survived by her loving spouse of 66 years, Richard Peters; her children, Kim (Scott) Flowers, Cindy (Todd) Spingath, and Tracy Kovalchik; and her grandchildren, Jenna (Tom) Bossa, Brian (Kristen) Flowers, Jordan (Jessica) Flowers, Brett (Allee) Flowers, Shawn (Valli) Spingath, Tiffany (Ethan) Hanks, Brittany Spingath, Natalie Kokoska, Dylan Kokoska, and Katie Kovalchik. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Addison Keller, Elaina Flowers, Ehren Spingath, Bree Bossa, Leo Bossa, Emma Flowers, and Alora Hanks; and her siblings, Kay (Bill Such) Wilcox, Leroy (Sunny) Graber, and Les (Billie Jean) Graber.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles (Jean) Graber and Alton Graber.

Please join our family as we come together to celebrate and remember Janet E. Peters on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at a place that held many special memories for her: Kyber Run Golf Course, 5261 Mink Street, Johnstown, Ohio 43031. 

Janet enjoyed life and the people she shared it with. She loved painting and sewing, playing games, trips to the casino, and spending time with family and friends. And, of course, she loved golf. 

Janet was an avid golfer, and Kyber Run was much more than just a golf course to her. Over the years, she spent countless hours there playing in golf leagues and tournaments, working at the clubhouse, and enjoying the friendships and camaraderie that came along with it. Kyber Run was truly one of her favorite places, which makes it especially meaningful to gather there to celebrate her life.

For those who would like to start the day doing something Janet loved, we will have a 9-hole golf scramble at Kyber Run earlier that morning, beginning at 8 a.m.

Come Celebrate With Us

Following golf, we’ll gather from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for Janet’s Celebration of Life. 

This will be a time to be together, share stories, laugh about favorite memories, and remember all of the things that made Janet so special. We hope you’ll come ready to share a favorite Janet story or simply spend time with the people whose lives she touched.

We can’t think of a better way to honor Janet than gathering at a place she loved, surrounded by family, friends, laughter, memories, and maybe even a little friendly competition on the golf course.
