Jason Michael Burns
October 30,1969-January 28. 2026 affectionately known as JB, left this world on January 28th 2026 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He fought with amazing courage and grace throughout his battle. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, honesty, deep love and devotion for those fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by the love of his life, soulmate and best friend Stephanie (Emanuel) Burns, to whom he was married for 30 years. Teenage sweethearts, they spent almost 40 years by each others side. He also leaves behind his proudest accomplishments, whom he loved more than life, his sons Alex(Izzy) and Cameron(Hannah). He is also survived by his beloved father and mother in law Rich & Roberta(Bobbi) Emanual, his brother & sister in law Shawn and Michelle (Emanuel) Marcum and his nephews who he loved like his own Ryan and Derek. Finally his best friend, who was like his brother, Chuck Franklin.
Jason was also known for his sarcasm and humor. Everyone telling him how his Facebook posts made their day. A strong man in every sense, he was intentional about staying honest and true to himself. Jason was a friend to everyone endearing himself to a wide circle of family & friends. From Mount Carmel, to high school friends from Westland ,friends made in adulthood and from St Cecilia, to even the neighborhood. He was loved by all.
For 25 years Jason worked at Mount Carmel West, Grove City and finally Hilliard. Where he was not just a hard worker, but a friend to all he met.
Outside work and his devotion to family, Jason found joy in many things. He loved to fish, often going out for hours with Chuck. The beach was his happy place. He and his family went to PCB every year with Michelle, Shawn and the boys where he loved to deep sea fish.
He was also passionate about his baseball cards and attended show all over Ohio with his friend Dave which allowed him to bond with enthusiasts and create lasting memories. He also loved the color blue, saying it was because it was the color of Steph's eyes, the Tennessee Titans even though the last few seasons were rough and the Cincinnati Reds.
Jason joined parents Michael and Bonnie(McCord) Burns whom proceeded him in death. Leaving a profound imprint on those who knew him. As family and friends gather to celebrate his life, they will remember him for his strength, compassion, spirit and boundless love he shared throughout his life. He may be gone from our sight but he will remain forever in the hearts he touched.
