Jean C. Neiberger, 92, of Westerville passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Edgewood Manor.
She was born October 26, 1921 in Ilion, N.Y., daughter of the late George and Edna Campbell Carroll.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husbands, William Fay and Earl Neiberger; son, Douglas Fay; one brother and three sisters.
She was a 1940 graduate from Ilion High School.
Jean worked for the Ilion Sentinel, C.B. Smith and the Herkimer Telegram. She retired from the Utica Newspaper in 1981 as a reporter and photographer.
Jean was a member of the St. Augustine's Episcopal Church and its Guild. She also taught Sunday school.
After the Neiberger's retirement, the couple moved to Onaga, KS where they cared for Earl's mother. After her death in 1986, they continued to live in Onaga, where they were both active in Senior Citizen Affairs.
Jean served as Earl's assistant in managing the Onaga Senior Center. She also did volunteer work at the Center and served as Treasurer of the Club.
Jean was also a former member of the Onaga Community Hospital Guild, United Congregational Church of Christ, serving as its treasurer and a member to the Guild.
She was also an Executive Director on the Northern Kansas Area Agency on Aging.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Leslie (Roy) Dillon; grandchildren, Alison (Clarence) Cherry, Andrew Riedel, Amanda (Matthew), Douglas and John Fay; great grandchildren, Sam, Emily, Mathew and Bode.
Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2014 from 5:30-6:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, with the memorial service beginning at 6:30 PM.
