Jeffrey Scott Manning passed away on June 3, 2025 at the age of 59 in Columbus, Ohio. Jeffrey was born on April 27, 1966 in Steubenville, Ohio to Richard Manning and Carol Manning (Thompson). He is with his dad now, who passed away 30 years ago, but left behind his mom and his big sister Sandra Manning. Extended family was just as important; celebrations and holidays were spent with his family and adopted little sister, Sarah – and her family. Jeffrey also leaves behind a best friend he has known for many years, Connie Musser.
Jeffrey was the quintessential “gentle giant.” His towering 6’4” frame carried a quiet, thoughtful man through a life of varied interests and jobs. He tried his hand at a variety of jobs through the years: clerk, cook, security guard, truck driver. Jeffrey LOVED work and was NEVER late; following rules and doing a good job meant everything to him.
Jeffrey was an avid football fanatic and a diehard Cleveland Browns and OSU Buckeyes fan. His other notable passion was for classic Marvel comics and the movies that followed. He spent many weekends with his friend Connie at the local theaters.
Two aspects of Jeffrey’s life guided him along the winding path he chose. First, he was so proud of his service in the US Air Force, during which he was stationed in (most notably) New Mexico and the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. He fell in love with Alaska and shared many stories of his unique experiences there.
And….above all else, Jeffrey valued the relationship he had with Jesus Christ. His faith guided him through a life of struggle and celebration, good times and bad. He will be missed by so many of the lives he has touched with his quirky and gentle charm.
