Jeong Joo (“JJ”) Fanberg was born in Kunsan, South Korea in 1955. She was preceded in death by her father (Dong Taek Park), mother (Buk Pyong Ko) and sister (Chung-Hee Park). She is survived by brothers Jong-Han Park, Jong-Chan Park, and Jong-Soo Park; sister Chung-Rye Park; daughters Justina Julae (Kyle) Katterheinrich and Christina Joo-Hee (Jordan) Jasik and husband Victor Vincent Fanberg.
During her lifetime, she worked as a Registered Nurse at various critical care hospitals in Seoul, Korea, nursing homes in Columbus, Ohio (Northland Terrace and Wesley Glenn), and finally spent 17 years working at OSU University Hospital’s burn unit. In addition to her nursing degree in Korea, she earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from DeVry University in Columbus, Ohio. She attended Lane Avenue Baptist Church, Korean Church of Columbus, and Dublin Baptist Church. The joys of her life were raising two bilingual girls born to her, the relationship with her husband, the Sunday School class members at Dublin Baptist, and various small groups she was part of at the various churches she attended.
JJ was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September, 2022. God blessed her in that the cancer grew in such a way that it blocked off the bile duct which resulted in symptoms and an early diagnosis. 90% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die about 3-6 months. JJ went through surgery in November of 2022 and began chemotherapy in January of 2023. After 12 biweekly chemo sessions, she appeared cancer-free. Blood tests in December of 2024 indicated the cancer was growing again and she resumed chemotherapy in January of 2025 until April of 2025. She passed away surrounded by her family under hospice care on November 5, 2025.
