Jerri was born Jerone Townsend Godfrey in 1929 in Boston, Ma., the daughter of Mr. Frank and Mrs. Anna Godfrey. She lived her childhood between New England and Sarasota Florida. She matriculated from Westover School in Middlebury, CT and attended Smith College for two years before her first marriage. During this period she taught swimming classes for children at the YWCA.
During her first marriage to Lewis Gibbens Warren Jr. she gave birth to and raised four children. The family lived an exciting life of travel: touring Europe in a Volkswagen Camper, spending summers exploring the United States in a trailer, also living aboard and cruising the seas on a yacht, the "Casa Del Sol" which was docked at Dinner Key Marina, in Coconut Grove Miami, FL. During her stay there, she taught a Laughbach Literacy course to adults with limited English.
In 1978, Jerri married her second husband, Harry W. Paul and moved to Homestead, FL, where she worked first in nursing at South Miami Hospital and, later, for Florida National Parks and Monuments Association in the Everglades. She was also active in Homestead Habitat for Humanity, the Homestead Soup Kitchen and wrote nature and travel articles for the Homestead paper. She was an avid writer and journalist.
After the devastation caused by Hurricane Andrew, the Pauls' moved to Port St. John, FL where they both volunteered for Meals On Wheels and as host and guide at The Enchanted Forest Sanctuary.
Jerri is proceeded in death by her parents Frank and Anna Godfrey, a sister Anne Godfrey Wilson, along with both husbands Lewis Gibbens Warren Jr. and Harry W Paul. Her beloved survivors are her sons: Lane Warren of New York City and Woodbury, CT, Frank Warren of Kingsport, TN, Charles Warren of Lebanon, TN, and a daughter, Anne Townsend Marchiondo, granddaughter Kendrah Townsend Betz and great granddaughter Lydia Townsend Betz of Delaware, OH. Additional beloved survivors are her step-children: Dixie and Becky and step grandchildren: Andrew, Courtney and Shawn.
During her 95 years of life Jerri was a wonderful wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will always be remembered as a kind, loving, thoughtful and honest (to a fault) Christian woman. We will miss her terribly, until we see her again!
