Jessica "Jessie" Estelle Rudd

Jessica Estelle Rudd, age 46, passed away at her home on July 21, 2026. Her death was sudden, unexpected, and the cause is yet unknown. She will be remembered as a kind, creative, compassionate and empathetic person and a lover and protector of animals. In preparation for a career as a professional photographer, she attended Ohio University for two years and graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. Her work included commercial photography, sporting and corporate events, weddings, food shoots, family portraits and a temporary teaching position in photography at Columbus State Community College. Her art photography expresses a unique blend of beauty, creativity and individuality, traits that were essential to her personality. Her response to negativity in the world was to remain kind, generous, and loving. She called herself an empath because of her unique ability to see and to connect with the vulnerability and the joy in others. Her energy was strong when needed; her spirit was light and bright and beautiful. 

She is survived by parents, Tom and Nancy Rudd, brothers Derek Rudd and Zachary Rudd, uncles Timothy Schermerhorn (Joyce Thomas), Roger Schermerhorn (Tacy Smith), James Rudd, and Larry Rudd; aunt Cynthia Indrutz (Jeff) and cousin Shelby Rudd. She leaves behind two beloved pets, Triton and Theo.

Because of her love for animals, we ask that, in lieu of flowers, you make a contribution to the ASPCA or to a local no-kill animal shelter.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4pm, Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, OH, where a memorial service will begin at 4pm.
