Jessie Eyre, 77, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on October 9, 2014 in Columbus, Ohio.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 4-8 pm. American Legion Auxiliary 164 services will be held at 7:00 pm that evening. Additional visitation Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 10 am until the time of Funeral Service at 11 am with Reverend Jerry Nussbaum officiating. Burial will follow at Grove City Cemetery (Old). Reception to follow at the American Legion Post 164, 3363 McDowell Rd, Grove City.

Jessie was born in Frankfort to Edward and Ella Drum on November 5, 1936. She went to high school at Frankfort High School. She married Joseph William Eyre on March 21, 1956 and enjoyed 25 wonderful years of marriage. She retired from Medex of Dublin at 68 years of age. She has been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1971, (43 years). She volunteered for many social events with the VFW and American Legion Post 164 making sure local children would enjoy memorable Easter Egg Hunts and Christmas parties. As 2nd Vice-President of the American Legion Auxiliary 164, Jessie was presented proclamation for their annual Poppy Day Sale. Contributions from the sale of the little red flower were used solely for children and youth and rehabilitation in the local community. Also as 2nd Vice-President, she delivered 500 comic books to the local elementary schools for third graders promoting safety for children. She loved volunteering for the local Special Olympic Chapter.

Jessie is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ella Drum; two brothers Wilbur and Gilbert Drum and her late husband Joseph William Eyre.

Jessie is survived by her daughter Diana Lou(Thomas deceased) Roske; daughter Debra Sue Eyre; son Joseph Edward Eyre, Grand Children Lynn (Terry) Kraemer of MN, Susan Huston, James (Schar) Huston Jr, Brian (Kelsy) Woodruff, Heather (Ronnie) Woodruff-Williams, Matthew Woodruff, Drew Joseph Eyre, Great Grand Children Stephen (Nikki) Kraemer of MN, Michalea Kraemer of MN, Aaron Schultz of FL, James and Justin Huston, Brice and Kasey Watson, Ronnie Williams Jr., Damon Brian Woodruff, Great Great-Grand Child Kendra Kraemer of MN, her twin sister Bessie (Lawrence deceased) Graham of San Antonio, TX, sister-in-laws Helen (Wilbur deceased) Drum, Donna Eyre, Judy (Harry deceased) Eyre, Gloria (David deceased) Eyre, and many nieces and nephews.

Floral or memorial donations (to the local Special Olympics Chapter) may be made to Newcomer Funeral Home.

The family wishes to extend their DEEP gratitude to the Mt. Carmel Hospice team for their caring and support in our mothers last days. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to Hoodo Mead for her loving, gentle and tender care of our mother.
