Jessie Johnson

Jessie "Cissy" Johnson, 78, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Westerville, OH. Jessie was born on April 17, 1948, in Gallipolis, Ohio to Douglas Marlin Johnson Jr. and Margaret Annette Peppers Johnson.

She attended Gallia Academy High School Class of 1966. She worked at Gallipolis Public Library until moving to Columbus, OH, where she worked for the State Library of Ohio for over 30 years until retirement.

Jessie is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter Ora Johnson, sisters Marlene (Skeeter) Newsome of Gallipolis, OH and Maria (Bucky) Johnson of Columbus, OH, brother Douglas (Thumper) Johnson III of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
