Jewel May Cochran, 94, Columbus, went to be with her Lord, Monday, September 9, 2013. Jewel was born in Pueblo, CO on November 15, 1918, to William and Ada (Ross) Thomas and is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 72 years, J. Alfred Cochran; brother, Edward Bruner; sister, Donna Clark.
Survivors include her daughter, Thelma J. Bowman; sons, Thomas A. (Judy) Cochran and William R. (Donna) Cochran; sisters, Gertrude Flaugher and Lorene Dalessandri; brother, John Thomas; grandchildren, Eric Cochran, William Cochran and Brian (Julie) Cochran and Douglas (Cam) Bowman; great-grandchildren, James, Paul, and Drew Cochran, and Emma and Addison Bowman; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Jewel received her Bachelor of Theology from the Cleveland Bible College (Malone University) in 1942. Jewel and Alfred were long-time members of the Church of the Nazarene, most recently Fredericktown Church of the Nazarene. Jewel ministered faithfully as the organist and in numerous other capacities.
Jewel's family will receive family and friends on Monday, September 16, 2013, 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:30 AM. Graveside Services will be at 2:30 PM at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens, 18260 Coshocton Road, Mt. Vernon, OH.
