Jill Marie Nelson, age 58 of Reynoldsburg, OH, died peacefully at home on July 15th, 2017 with her husband and beloved dogs at her side. The cause of death was carcinoid cancer. She was born in Saint Paul, MN on April 7th, 1959, the daughter of Floyd and Claudette (Belisle) Nelson. She was a 1976 graduate of Saint Paul Central High School and lived in Wisconsin prior to moving to Ohio in 2004.
Jill's life is a story of wide-ranging experiences and passions. She learned to show horses, drive snowplows and, on a farm in rural Wisconsin, she learned to milk cows. As an employee of the Marriott hotel chain, she skillfully planned and coordinated a variety of events. She was a talented needlecrafter whose many projects included beautifully detailed Christmas stockings for her nieces and nephew. And she demonstrated a lifelong compassion for animals, especially her rescue dogs.
Jill is survived by her husband (Stephen Hornung), her parents, brothers Neil (Heidi), Scott (Cheryle), and Keith (Michelle), a loving extended family and many friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory in Grove City, Ohio. At Jill's request, there will be no visitation. She has asked any memorials be directed to either the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation (carcinoid.org) or the animal humane society of the donor's choice. Private interment of ashes will occur at a later date.
