Joan "Nana" Gossett

Joan “Nana” Gossett passed away at home on July 13th, 2026 with her husband (Robert “Bob” Gossett) of 46 years at her side at the age of 77. Joan was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio on April 26th, 1949 to Hubert and Marie Gartin. Joan got her first job at age 18 at Western Electric, where she worked for 32 years and also where she met Bob aka “Papa”. Joan had her daughter, Angela, in 1973. Joan enjoyed years of boating on Lake Cumberland with Bob and friends from work, trips to Florida to soak up the sun, and spending time with her grandkids. After 8 years of retirement spending winters in Florida, Angela’s 5 children came to live with Joan and Bob. Joan spent the rest of her years raising her grandchildren and providing them with a loving and nurturing home. “Nana” will always be remembered for the sacrifices she made, the unconditional love she provided and the lives she changed. Her grandchildren credit her as a kind, stubborn, and fiercely protective woman that shaped who they are.

Joan is preceded in death by her Mother Marie Gartin and Father Hubert Gartin and Brothers Gene Gartin and James Gartin. Joan is survived by husband Robert Gossett, daughter Angela Askew, son Scott (Heather) Gossett; Grandchildren Sarah Askew, Alex (Taylor) Askew, Alisa Askew, Jessie Frey, William (Andee) Frey, Allison Polsdorfer, Mackenzie Gossett, Katrina Gossett; Great-grandchildren: Silas, Naomi, Kayden, Nova, Sawyer and Elliot.

Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral service on Friday at the funeral home at 1:00pm. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus, OH.
