Joan W. Hanes

Joan W. Hanes, 95, passed away October 29, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Hanes, Sr.; grandson, Dustin T. Wooden; and brother, Richard Whisner

Joan was born on May 7, 1931 to the late Aubrey and Harriette Whisner.

Joan and Charlie enjoyed their time in Vero Beach, Florida and then Murphy, North Carolina before returning to Ohio.

She is survived by her children, Charles R. (Patty) Hanes, Jr. and Cindy (Tom) Wooden; grandchildren, Steve Hanes, Scott (Jessica) Hanes, Rachel (Josh) Hipsher, Cortney (Harrison) Curtis, Kevin (Cassie) Wooden, and Katie (Aaron) Buck; great-grandchildren, Mason, Alivia, Conlan, Luke, Sophia, Hannah, Vivian, Margot, Bodhi, Remi, and Carter aka Ward; half-sister, Linda Jones; nephew, Rodney Whisner; as well as her Avondale community.

Memorial Gathering Sunday November 15, 2026 from 1-2pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, Ohio (614-818-1188).
