Born on January 28, 1932, in Prospect, Ohio, John lived a rich and purposeful life marked by service, devotion to family, and passion for education and community.
A proud veteran, John honorably served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Marine Corps. John’s warmth extended beyond people to the animals of his neighborhood, where he was known for lovingly feeding every stray that crossed his path. His compassionate nature and joy in spending time with family were hallmarks of his character, leaving lasting impressions on those fortunate to know him.

John’s brother, Robert Hughes, and special friend, Mary Lou Chaffin, remain close companions whose lives he touched deeply.
