John David Brown

John David Brown “ David” age 78 of Columbus, Ohio was called back home on February 14, 2026 while surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on December 25,1947 and raised on a rural farm in Belmont County in Ohio, moving to Shadyside, Ohio and graduating in 1965. He moved to Columbus and married Candace Brown and raised their 6 children until her passing . He worked first for Lazarus, then Kobacker industries, and finally 22 years for JC Penney in the data center. He retired from JC Penney 2009. After retirement he enjoyed showing off his antique cars, helping raise his grandchildren, spending time with family, and spending time on the farm where he was born.

Proceeded in death by parents John Ellis Brown and Katherine Yonko Brown, spouse Candace Adams Brown, spouse Christine Brown, and son Seth Hyrum Brown.

Survive by sister Kathleen (Frank) Lichtkopper, Brother Mike (Melissa) Brown, Children Amanda (Dan) Holdren, John (Timothy) Jaye-Brown, Matthew (Amy) Brown, Sarah (Melissa) Brown, Megan Brown, Grandchildren Tyler, Alex, Donna, Abby, Sydney, Annabelle, Erin, Zoe, Austin , And many nieces, nephews, Step children, and step grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mount Carmel Grove City James Cancer Center, Dr. Rhodes office, especially his transfusion nurse Meghan, the transfusion staff, office staff members Ann, Jessica, and many more.

We would like to thank Capital City Hospice, his case nurse John , Aid Kennetta, and social worker Natalie. Also the constant care team Makayla, Casey, Vanetta, Juanita, and Molly (Angel of peace) who help John find Peace

Friends may call at the NEWCOMER SOUTHWEST CHAPEL 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2:00pm until time of funeral service at 4:00pm. Interment to follow at Beallsville Memorial Cemetery at 1:00pm on Monday, February 23, 2026 in Beallsville, Ohio.
