John Gilliam went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 09 2016 due to complications from open heart surgery at West Florida Hospital. He was born on September 22 1953 and is proceeded in death by his father William H Gilliam as well as Georgia(Robert) Bolin who raised John as one of their own.
John is also preceded in death by his wife of eleven years Tammy Gilliam, brother Steven Gilliam and sister Wilma Phelps. John is survived by his life partner Jeanette Bolin who is the mother of his children; Sons include John(Victoria) Gilliam, Dustin(Jeanie) Gilliam and Ronald(Melissa) Gilliam: Daughters are Shannon(Paul) Gilliam, Christina(Pops) Gilliam and Amanda(James) Toller, Stepchildren are Carolyn(Bill) Thomas, Bobby Bahn. John is survived by thirty two grandkids and ten great-grandchildren; John's surviving brothers are Albert(Linda) Gilliam, Frank(Krystal) Gilliam and Bill Gilliam; surviving sisters are Mary Ann Gilliam, Connie(Bobby) Gilliam, As well as many nieces and nephews. John celebrated his life by sharing stories with family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. John was a dedicated family man who always put his children and grandchildren above his own needs. John was proudly retired from the Cimino Construction company and moved to Pensacola Florida where he spent most days fishing off the pier, other hobbies included hunting. John loved old war movies and one of his favorite quotes was from D.H Lawrence and goes as followed…. I never seen a wild thing sorry for itself. A bird will fall frozen from a bough without ever feeling sorry for itself.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, OH 43137.
