John Joseph Guntrum

John Joseph Guntrum, 97, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Westerville, OH. John was born on August 20, 1920 in Rimesburg, PA to the Grace Kent and Thomas Guntrum.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah; parents and multiple siblings.
He is survived by his sons, John T. Guntrum and Richard M. (Frances) Guntrum; granddaughters, Sarah (Tyler) Smith and Melissa (Mikel Giammarco) Guntrum and 10 great-grandchildren.
John retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after a distinguished career of 31 years. He was the recipient of numerous medals and commendations for outstanding service and leadership. After retirement, John was involved with volunteer work for a number of local hospitals. John loved socializing with and helping other people.
Family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 11am to 12pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43231. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 12pm also at Newcomer NE Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Blendon Central Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
