John E. Haring, age 65, of Powell, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Born on January 11, 1960, in Youngstown, Ohio. John attended Youngstown State and later moved to the Columbus area, where he worked for Crown Eurocars and Equitable Mortgage. It is in Columbus he met the love of his life, Tracy Allen.
A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, John never met a stranger—he left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He was a constant source of comfort and unwavering support to his pride and joy, Johnny. He cherished his family and was devoted to his friends. Well known at local restaurants and golf courses, John took genuine interest in getting to know people on a personal level.
To know John was truly to love him. John was an avid fan of Ohio State football. He was also a passionate fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians (he was slow to embrace the name change to the “Guardians”). John’s love of food was legendary—he never passed up a meal, and his longtime friends fondly joked that he was like a feral cat: the more they fed him, the more he came around.
John will be remembered for his generosity, authenticity, and selflessness. He was always willing to help anyone in need—he would quite literally give you the shirt off his back. John’s unwavering faith in God was central to his life. He and Tracy were dedicated members of New Hope Church, where John sang in the choir.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Joann Haring, his brother-in-law, Matthew D. Brown and father-in-law, Richard Allen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Haring; his children, Johnny Haring and Madison Haring-Wallace; his siblings, Ralph (Terri) Haring, Kathy Brown, and Joseph (Beth) Haring; his mother-in-law, Jutta Allen; sister-in-law, Debbie (Ted) Lunsford; nieces and nephews, Kevin (Amanda) Lunsford, Kyle Lunsford , Kristin Lunsford, Michael (Shannon) Haring, Emily Haring, Matthew David (Amanda) Brown II, and Kevin (Christy) Brown. He also leaves behind many extended family members, countless friends, and his beloved Fox Red lab, Ruby.
