John “Jay” Ball

John Junius Ball passed away on January 7, 2026 in Louisville, KY. He was preceded in death by parents Clarence and Odessa (Long) Ball of Tiffin OH.; special friend Vicky Skinner; ex-wife Chalice A.Taylor; and half-brothers Cliff, Ralph, Ray, Richard "Dick" and William "Bill" Alspach. He is survived by sons J. Steven Ball, of Columbus; Rick A. Ball, of Taylorsville KY; and Brian R. (Karla) Ball, of Grandview Heights OH; grandchildren Rachael Ball, Stephanie Moore, Sarah Ball and David Ball; cousin Marjorie Gaylord Bardeen of Batavia, IL; and ex-wife Nancy Otten of Indianapolis, and 11 great grandchildren.

John was born on Feb. 11, 1933, and graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1951. He briefly attended Heidelberg College prior to joining the U.S. Air Force from January 1953 to December 1956, most recently at the shuttered Olmstead AFB in Pennsylvania. He married Chalice Ann Zwald in June 1955 and worked for Whirlpool Corp. in Fremont while earning a business degree in January 1963 from BGSU Ohio.

Visitation Friday, January 16, 2026 from 6-8pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Graveside Funeral Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10am at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH.
