John M. Speakman

John M. Speakman, 67, passed away January 31, 2014. He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Effie (Phillips) Speakman and sister, Marjorie Winn.
John is survived by daughters, Raquel Speakman and Heather (Chuck) Slavik-Delatos; dear friend, Shelley (Peate) Speakman; step-son, Shawn Fitzelle; brother-in-law, Robert Winn; brother, George (friend, Jim Gross) Speakman; sister, Gretchen (Dan) Fancey; nephews and nieces, Todd (Tracy) Winn, Victor (Tanya) Winn, Andrew Winn, Jon Fancey, Aaron Fancey, Rachel (Corey) Myers and grandchildren, Dani, Hannah, Nick, Daegan and Braelyn.
Graduated from Sebring McKinley High School in Sebring, OH. Attended Kent State University and the University of Texas at Austin.
Served in the United States Army from 1966-1968.
Worked for Goodyear in Akron and Morgan Engineering in Alliance, OH before moving to Columbus in 1980. Retired Service Manager from Schuler Inc in 2012 after 32 years of service.
Since retirement, John was a daily patron at Classic's- Victory's on S. High St., where he made a lot of friends. Car, motorcycle and train enthusiast; avid OSU sports fan; devoted father and friend to many.
Visitation Thursday, Februrary 6, 2014 from 3 pm until the time of Funeral Service at 5 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Speak! for the Unspoken Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 534, Grove City, OH 43123.
