John Xavier Matyskella
May 5, 1926 — February 14, 2017
John Xavier Matyskella, age 90, passed away peacefully at Riverside Methodist Hospital in the
early morning of Feb. 14.
The youngest of 9 children of a Polish immigrant family, he graduated
from OSU, in Engineering in1950. He worked in engineering at Westinghouse and later, EBCO
Industries. He was a devoted and active member of St. Cecilia Church, and enjoyed singing in
the choir.
Preceded in death by his 8 siblings and 3 of his sons; Stephen, Daniel and Joseph,
and his son-in-law Yusuf Abucar.
Survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Patricia, who resides
at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. Also survived by son David (Evelyn), daughters Joan, Jane,
Mary Grace (Scott) Hanson , and Susan (John) Baker, granddaughters Grace and Rose
Hanson, grandsons Yusef and Mataan Abucar and Alex Matyskella.
Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm, followed by a funeral Mass at 1pm, on Friday Feb. 17th at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 430 Norton Rd, Columbus 43228, Father Leo Connolly presiding.
