John Milton Jr.

John McCurdy Milton Jr., 84, went to be with the Lord, much to his surprise, on October 15th, 2026 in Columbus, Ohio.

Cause of demise was believed to have been a blood disorder, probably related to a lifelong "...love of the grape". Until the end, he expressed a strong reluctance to depart. "Bums Away" as John liked to say in his self-deprecating fashion.

A practitioner of many trades, John claimed mastery of just two; writing and editing.

Survivors include his sons, Edwin Brooks-Milton, Joel Milton, Adam Milton, and Brad Milton, as well as his granddaughter, Olivia Rose Milton, Winchester, Virginia, and best friend, Francis "Mike" Lorz.

The mother of his sons, Victoria (Brooks) Milton, preceded him in death, after 27 years, on Pearl Harbor Day, 1990.

Intellectual honesty barred him from success in electoral politics. After his noisy desperation had quieted, ranting could still be heard in the Virginia woods. He regarded himself as an intellectual dilletante, able to encapsulate ideas, or writers, or philosophers, but having no depth of knowledge about anything; driven to know a little about a lot; no time to know enough about anything, only just a little about everything.
