With grateful hearts we celebrate the life of John Edward Snyder, who died on July 14, 2026 after a brave battle against a lenghty illness.
John's strongest love in life was for his family, including his wife of 30 years, Cindi Gahris Snyder;his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Jose Vallejos; and his favorite (and only) granddaughter, Ophelia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Snyder and Isabella (Millard) Snyder; brother, Donnie Snyder; sisters, Isabella Guchemand, Judy Snyder, and Marlene Ewankowich; and kindres spirit, Tim Holtom. He is survived by many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Steve Ewankowich, and sister, Karen Ostijic.
John spent the majority of his career as an operating engineer and went on to become a new construction inspector for the city of Columbus. He took pride in pointing out the buildings in Columbus he helped to erect, including a wing of the newer COSI building, the Franklin County Jail, and the Lennox Theater sign.
He loved participating in political campaigns and was a frequent volunteer for the Franklin County Democratic Party in the early 2000's. He contributed his time ans skills in many ways, but his favorite activity was driving Richard Cordray as a candidate to political events in Ohio and in parades as he ran for state offices.
We invite friends and family to join us in a celebration of John's life on Sunday, September 20, 2026. It will begin at 12:30 sharing stories and laughter with lunch to follow. It will be held in the clubhouse at the Courtyards of Beulah Park, Grove City.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in John's memory to the Mid Ohio Food Bank or, if you are of like mind, the Franklin County Democratic Party.
