John A. Woods, 78, of Columbus, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Senior Home Choice.
He was born March 24, 1935 in Tuscaloosa, AL, son of the late Sam Jack and Ethel Lee Collier Woods.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Fred Woods, Sara Porter and Emry Lois Cook.
He served in the Air Force and worked for the Newark Air Force Station retiring with 33 years of service.
John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, J. Faye Woods; daughters, Debora (Eric) Woods Wynn of Georgia, Sandra (Fred) Perry of Columbus and Paula (Ronald) Harris of Reynoldsburg; son, Jesse Woods of Columbus; grandchildren, Sadie Harris of Reynoldsburg and Titus Wynn of Georgia; sisters, Leevonia Markham of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Earlie Mae Woods of Inkster, Michigan and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Union Grove Baptist Church, 266 N. Champion Ave. Columbus, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Henry L. Johnson III, officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org/goto/john_a_woods
Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
