John W. Young, Sr.

John W. Young, Sr., born on August 14, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 81. Known for his many talents as a carpenter and jack of all trades, John was a man who brought joy and charm into the lives of those around him.

John had a fun-loving spirit and a bit of an onery side, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. People enjoyed his company because he got along with everyone and carried a natural charm that made him easy to love. Above all, his family was his greatest pride and joy.

Throughout his life, John loved many things. He had a passion for singing old folksy music, filling the room with warm, nostalgic songs. His beloved pug, Buddy, was a faithful companion by his side. John also had a deep appreciation for Native American art, including dreamcatchers, paintings, and sculptures, reflecting a respect for culture and creativity. Among his favorite pastimes was fishing, where he found peace and connection with nature.

John is survived by his loving children: John (Teresa) Young, Jr., Jason Young, Tiffany (James) Young, Jacqueline (Donovan) Young, and Darlene (Rashid) Lamrani. His family also includes many grandchildren: Brandi (Chris) Hartwell, Zachariah (Amanda) Young, Olen (Kasey) Myers, Erica (Steven) Anderson, Ryland, Anderson, TJ Armentrout, Mark Hedges, Olivia Hedges, Nathan Armentrout, Nicholas Young, and Elizabeth Young. He was also a proud great-grandfather to many great-grandchildren. John’s cousins, Donny Blythe and Barbara Blythe, along with extended family and loved ones, hold him dear in their hearts.

John was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Young, and his second wife, Carol Young. He was also preceded by his parents, Chester and Lula (Holbrook) Young, and his siblings: Kenneth, Raymond, Myrtle Sparks, Betty McKenzie, and Arthur (Junior) Young.

John W. Young, Sr.’s life was marked by love, laughter, and the strong bonds he built with family and friends. He will be remembered fondly, missed deeply, and cherished always.
