Joseph J. Johnston

Joseph J. Johnston, 67, Columbus, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017. Joe was born in Columbus, OH on July 6, 1949, to Ronald and Marie (Colange) Johnston and is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viviana (Quitar) Johnston; sister, Judith Sandefur; mother and father-in-law, Iole and Umberto Quitar.

He is survived by his children, Suzanne (Thomas) Evans, Eric (Christie) Johnston and Andrea (James) Watson; sisters, Suzanne (Mike) Frissora , Mary White, Joanne Johnston; brothers, Ronald (Linda) Johnston and Ernie Johnston; grandchildren, Ashley, Alex, Serena, Sabryn, Landon, Caden and Mia; brother-in law, Anthony (Tina) Quitar and sister-in-law, Luciana (Giovanni) DiRocco; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joe served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, worked for State Auto Insurance Company and then the State of Ohio as an Insurance Fraud Investigator.

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and family man.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, February 16, 2017, 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Friday, February 17, 2017, at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1582 Ferris Road, Columbus, OH 43224. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH.
