Judith Phillips

July 11, 1950 — May 13, 2025

Colum

Judith Irene Phillips, age 74, of Columbus, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1:37 AM, surrounded by family.

Judith was a remarkable woman—kind, warm, and full of love. She had a gift for making anyone feel welcome, often with a home-cooked meal and a listening ear. Her heart was always open, and her presence was a comfort to many. Those who knew her knew there was no such thing as a stranger in her world. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, strength, and unconditional love.

She also had a wonderfully quirky personality and a great sense of humor that could light up any room. Whether it was through a witty remark, a funny story, or her playful spirit, Judith brought joy and laughter to those around her and never took life too seriously.

For many years, Judith devoted her time to volunteering at her local church, where her service and faith were a quiet but powerful example to others. Whether helping with events, preparing meals, or offering a helping hand to those in need, her contributions touched many lives.

She is survived by her children: Brenda (Dan) Hartman, Beth (Rick) Sindledecker, Charles Phillips, Christina Phillips, Tim Phillips, and Rebecca (Andy) Carpenter. She was a proud grandmother to Damien Phillips, Norman Barcus, Brandon Barcus, Tyler (Alex) Sindledecker, Jaxson Phillips, Addison Phillips, Anderson Carpenter, and Max Carpenter; and great-grandmother to Andrew Barcus and Mia Sindledecker.

Judith is also survived by her siblings: Dwight (Carol) McFarland, Ethel Reynolds, and Carl (Maxine) McFarland, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Phillips; her parents, David and Beatrice McFarland; and her siblings: Ralph McFarland, Edith Davis, James McFarland, Alice McFarland, Jerry McFarland, Andrew McFarland, Sandra Ruhl, Sandra McFarland, William McFarland, and Elaine Carson.

In keeping with Judith’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. Her family encourages those who knew her to honor her memory in their own way, through acts of kindness, laughter, and love—the values she lived by every day.
