Karen L. Muetzel

Karen L. Muetzel, 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away at her residence on September 1st, 2026. She was born on January 10, 1949, in Harvey, West Virginia.

Following high school, Karen would go on to work for and eventually retired from Nationwide Insurance as a claims specialist, after 39 years of dedicated service. A true homemaker at heart, Karen's greatest and deepest devotions in life were to her son and grandchildren, and her loving dogs. 

Karen is survived by her son, Brian (Cindy) Gallagher; her step-son, David (Lori) Muetzel; her brother, Ronnie Hatcher; her grandchildren, Bryana Gallagher, Jamel Gallagher, Jackson Muetzel and Jesse Muetzel; and her great-grandchildren, Josiah Brown, Jaylun Gallagher Jr., Jeremiah Brown, Jayce Gallagher, and Jaden Brown. She will be deeply missed by her family and by the many friends who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest J. Muetzel; her father, James H. Hatcher; her mother, Myrtle (Parlsey) Hatcher; and her grandson, Jaylun Gallagher Sr.

Karen’s memory will live on in the love of her family and in the friendships she cherished.
