Karen R. Sullivan, 62, a cherished sister, author, and artist, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at Doctor's West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born on July 18, 1963, in Columbus, Karen’s life was one marked by compassion, creativity, and an unwavering love for her family and heritage.
Karen pursued her higher education at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she earned degrees in both Psychology and Christian Counseling. Her dedication to understanding and helping others was reflected in her many years of service with United Healthcare Group, where she was valued for her professionalism and kindness.
A woman of diverse talents, Karen found joy in crafting beautiful diamond art, crocheting, and creating unique pieces on plastic canvases. Beyond her artistic pursuits, she shared her storytelling gift with the world as the published author of a beloved children’s book titled "The Blue Wagon," which has touched the hearts of young readers.
Karen held a special place in her heart for her beloved fur babies, Rambo and Keeva, who brought her comfort and companionship. She took great pride in her Irish roots, cherishing the culture and traditions that shaped her identity.
Family was central to Karen’s life. She is survived by her loving sister, Sandra K. Sullivan; her brother, Wesley J. Sullivan Jr.; and her dear nephews and niece, Brandon (Joni) Wears, Brian Wears, and Charity (Jeff) Horn. They, along with many friends, including special friend Bruce Groninger, will remember Karen for her warmth, wisdom, and infectious spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley J. Sullivan Sr. and Norma Jean (Williams) Sullivan, and her sister, Lynda Wears.
Karen’s legacy is one of love, creativity, and generosity. She will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her contributions to her family, community, and the arts endure as a lasting tribute to a truly remarkable life.
Per the family and Karen's wishes, a Celebration of Karen's life will be held at a later date, to be announced by the family.
