Kelly Ann Stephens

June 11, 1966 — July 27, 2017

Kelly A. Stephens, age 51, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday July 27,2017 at her home in Westerville succumbing to her long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Kelly was a loving mother who leaves behind family including children, Justin, Jamie, and Ian Magruder; devoted ex-husband Dave Magruder; grandchildren Carter Duhl and Chana Magruder; sister Christina Smith; niece Cheri Smith Hagenbuch; nephews Gary Smith and Jared Stephens; and others. She is preceded in death by parents, Grant and Sara Stephens and nephew Greg Smith.

We all know that Kelly was full of vigor, candor, and humor, and will be sorely missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Kelly was a unique individual who spoke her mind with no regrets. Anyone who met her was left with a lasting impression and eyes opened a little wider. We would love to hear your story about Kelly! If you can't join us in person please take a moment to add a comment/story below or at www.NewcomerColumbus.com & click on obituaries.

Kelly was a avid animal lover raising rabbits for 4-H Club, owning horses and competing in The Quarter Horse Congress, as well as raising many dogs and cats in her life. Kelly graduated from Johnstown Monroe High School, and then went on to The Ohio State University Newark Branch where she was a Criminology major. During her training she worked with the Licking and Franklin County Sheriffs Departments as one of their youngest undercover investigators. She received special training under the F.B.I. in Quantico, Virginia for a period of time. Kelly was also very talented in Sales and Sales Management working for The Limited Inc., AAA Appliance, and Waterbeds-n-Stuff. She also started her own business, Creative Art & Photo, designing and producing sports apparel for schools, and athletic teams. Kelly is a longtime member at the American Baptist Church of Westerville.

During her decades long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.) she formed lifelong relationships and friendships with Nurses, Doctors, Health Aides, and many other caregivers, who Kelly and her family will forever be indebted to. You are all angels who truly do God's work.
