Kevin Butcher, born on January 24, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. He leaves behind a legacy of love and determination that touched the lives of many.
Kevin devoted over 30 years to his career in warehouse work and was known as a jack of all trades. He was a proud graduate of Westland High School, class of 1984. Kevin had a spirited personality; he loved hard, was known for his stubbornness, and cherished his family deeply. As a great debater and conspiracy theorist, he enjoyed engaging in lively discussions with friends and family alike.
An avid gamer, Kevin was essential to the gaming community, especially his love for Filsinger Games, which he participated in for over three decades. He was also a loyal fan of WWE wrestling and found joy in watching Sci-Fi television series such as Supernatural, The Boys, and Game of Thrones. Sports were another passion, and he was a big supporter of the University of Kentucky.
Kevin's proudest accomplishments were his family, which includes his mother, Lillian, his daughter, Jennifer (Ashley) Amerine, and sons, Trent (Katie) Butcher and Matthew (Megan) Butcher. He adored his grandchildren—Cheyanne (Alex), Amelia, Benjamin, Dakota, Eagan, Benjamin Lee, Maddie, Elijah, Samuel, and Melanie—and took great joy in his great-grandchildren, Matteo, Watson, and Eleanor.
Kevin is survived by his beloved best friend and brother, Sean Powell, close family friend, Sheila Tackett, and a wide circle of friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Butcher, his brother, Willie, and his grandparents, Plennie and Annie Lemaster, Curly and Fannie Butcher.
Per his request, there will be no funeral services at this time. The family will hold a celebration of life this summer.
Kevin's remarkable life and the love he shared will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
