Kristin Belknap, 71, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 11, 2019, surrounded by her family, after a short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by husband of 25 years, Gary Belknap; parents, J. Wm. Kutschbach and Suzanne Kutschbach.
Kristin is survived by children, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Zack) Tullis, Rebecca (Drew) Thomas, Andrew Poulton, and David (Alexandra) Belknap; grandchildren, Olivia, Keegan, Sam, Kirstin, Milo, Marcelo, Moira, and Liam; siblings, J. Wm. (Vicky) Kutschbach II, Robert (Diana) Kutschbach, and Cricket (Dave) Davis; and many nieces and nephews.
Kristin had a compassion for taking in troubled people and animals (her "strays"). There was always a hot meal and a warm couch for whomever needed it. She was an advocate for woman of domestic violence and started a shelter for battered women in the 70s called Heidi House. She was well known for starting her own medical insurance consulting firm, Benefit Blueprints, and was recognized in the "Whos Who of American Business Leaders."
After her husband passed away, Kristin followed her calling and became a Methodist Minister serving various churches in southeast Ohio. Most recently, she had been accepted as a Deacon of her church. She was well known for being an LGBTQ advocate and officiating many unions. When she eventually retired, her focus shifted to her family and she became a live-in grandparent. Kristin shared her love of cooking with family and friends, often inviting them over for cooking classes. Another passion in her life was her love of music as inspired by her mother and grandmother. She performed as often as she could.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, Sept. 16, 2019 at 11am at First Presbyterian Church of Grove City, 4227 Broadway, Grove City, OH. 43123.
