Larry S. Becker, age 75, died on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital. He was born on April 21, 1941 in Caney, Kansas to the late Rev. J.W. and Anna Becker.
As a young man he proudly served his country by joining the U.S. Air Force and serving with United Nations Forces. He earned several medals including the Air Force Expeditionary and also the Honor, Fidelity and Efficiency Medal. Larry owned College Planning Services, Inc. for 17 years obtaining grants and scholarships for students. As part of the business he administered ACT career assessment for students to help them choose their vocation. He also assisted students in choosing the best colleges for their career field.
Larry loved music and was an accomplished organist, playing the organ for several churches over a 43 year period. He was also a very good athlete who participated in track and field and was a pitcher for fast pitch softball.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred and Roger Becker. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marge Becker; children, Lawrence Mark (Rebecca) Becker, Christina (Mitchell) Wilhelm and Neil (Rebecca) Becker; grandchildren, Amara and Jessica.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, September 12, 2106 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (LCMS) 766 S. High St., Columbus, OH. 43206.
