Larry Owen Schumacher, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Grove City, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born in Braddock, Pennsylvania, on July 26, 1943, the middle son of Beryl Sellers Schumacher and Owen Schumacher. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in Wood County, West Virginia, in 1961, and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965 through 1968.
In 1973, Larry married the love of his life, Kathleen Schumacher. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years, building a life rooted in love, faith, devotion, and quiet joy. Their marriage was a true partnership and a beautiful example of commitment, grace, and companionship.
After starting a family, Larry earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and went on to enjoy a career in accounting. After officially retiring in the early 2000s, he spent many happy days on the golf course and many meaningful evenings cooking dinner and spending time with his wife.
Larry will be remembered most for the way he lived: with kindness, wisdom, humor, and a steady heart. He was caring and compassionate, the kind of person who made others feel valued and at ease. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a bright outlook on life, and a gift for meeting challenges with a smile. Through his words and his example, Larry taught his daughter and grandchildren to be courageous, kind, level-headed, and strong.
He was a loving husband and father, a proud grandfather, a loyal friend, and a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and the St. Louis Cardinals. He found joy in simple things: time with family, a good meal, a round of golf, a favorite team to cheer for, and the people he loved gathered close.
Along with his loving wife, Kathleen, Larry is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Tristano and her husband, Lou; grandchildren, Autumn, Sophia, and Salvatore Tristano; brother, Jim Schumacher and his wife, Lisa; nieces and nephews, Zac Schumacher and his wife, Jessica, Max Schumacher and his wife, Breland, and Sasha Schumacher and her partner, Rolf Ott; grandnephews, Beckham and Bennett; as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Beryl and Owen Schumacher; his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Mary Jane Schumacher; and his niece, Kara Ketch Schumacher.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Grove City, 3301 Orders Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123.
