Lawrence Joseph Baviera, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Larry was born in Bellevue, Pennsylvania on February 3, 1937, to the late Lorenzo and Rose Baviera. He was an Air Force veteran and retired from IBM after 31 years of service. He attended Mass daily at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Larry really enjoyed life. He raced cars for several years at Columbus Motor Speedway and was an avid motorcycle rider for approximately 50 years, accumulating over 350,000 miles riding coast to coast around the United States. His other hobbies included photography, woodworking, a myriad of other projects, and just learning how everything worked. Larry enjoyed the company of friends over morning coffee. Friends remember his willingness to always lend a helping hand and a listening ear.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister Agatha (Edward) Hallas. Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons Jeff, whose wife Sally is deceased, and Greg (Natalie); Karen Osborne, life partner of 30 years; grandchildren Jenn (Nick) Adams; Christie; Kim (Aaron Williamson); Alex (Aaron Tucker); and Michelle Baviera; great grandchildren Kelsey Maitland; Adalind and Colter Adams; Sydney Williamson; his extended family and special friends.
The viewing is on July 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City. Requiem Mass will be held on July 8, 2025, at 10:00 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church 434 Norton Road, Columbus, Ohio. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery following the Mass.
The family asks that donations be made to St. Cecilia Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.
