Leita Maxine Hackenberger

Leita Maxine Hackenberger, age 93, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019. She was born on December
21, 1925 in West Milgrove, OH, to Lawrence and Florence Fenstemaker Emahiser.
Leita was very devoted to her family. She was known as "mom" to all the neighborhood kids when her own were growing up. Later in life, she cared for her grandchildren, and was known as "grandma" to all of those neighborhood kids. She was a good cook for her family, a seamstress, and a long-time Buckeye fan. She served as a Girl Scout leader, took ballet lessons, and belonged to a card club with her friends.
Surviving family includes children, Kathy (William) Barnhill, Raleigh, NC and Larry (Kym) Hackenberger; five grandchildren, including Jason (Taddy) Barnhill, Austin, TX; Michael Barnhill, Raleigh, NC; Matthew Barnhill, Charlotte, NC; Bryan (Dianne) Hackenberger; and Laura (William) Foley; 10 great-grandchildren including Timothy Madary; Makaylah Ann Madary; Matthew Parker Brown; Wesley Turner Hackenberger; Gwendolynne Elizabeth Hackenberger; Abigail Madison Foley; William Owen Foley; William Barnhill; John Barker Barnhill; and Charles "Tee" Barnhill; and siblings Dorothy Louise Greer and Reva Jean Phipps.
Preceded in death by husband, William Hackenberger; grandson, Jeffrey Hackenberger; siblings, Donald Owen Emahiser; Paul Wayne Emahiser; Claudice Inez Marie Sheffel; Donna Gayle Stevens; and Esther LaVaun Bechtel.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2019 from 5-8PM at Newcomer Funerals, Grove City, OH, 3393 Broadway (US Highway 62).
A funeral service for Leita will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10AM with interment to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg, OH.
