Leslie Baker

Leslie Baker, aged 70, passed away on March 19, 2026. Leslie was born Leslie Lanning on July 19, 1955, in Parkersburg West Virginia. In 1958, her family moved to Grove City, Ohio. Leslie was a 1973 graduate of Grove City High School. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart Terry Baker. Together, they raised a family with their son Brant and shared 51 years of marriage. Leslie began working for Southwestern City Schools in 1988, working as a school cook so that she could be home when her son came home from school. She retired from the district in 2004. Leslie was a very active woman. Working with the athletic boosters at her son’s high school. Actively participating in several groups in the churches she attended, starting with the Briggsdale United Methodist church and ending with the Trinity United Methodist Church as well as showing her artistic side by painting ceramics and making crafts out of stained glass. In her off time, Leslie loved spending time with her grandchildren Amanda and Quentin, often taking them to the cottage she and Terry had at Indian Lake. In her later years, she and Terry occupied themselves with their love of nature, drawing in and feeding several different types of birds, planting elaborate flower gardens and touring Ohio to go to all the small municipal and county fairs each summer.

Leslie’s bright personality and general kindness touched the many people that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Leslie is survived by sisters Lynn Volmar (Bob) and Amy Fisher, son Brant (Amy) Baker, grandchildren Amanda Baker and Quentin (Kaitlyn) Baker as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Quentin Lanning, mother Joan (Lanning) Osborne, Stepfather Owen Osborne and brother-in-law Mike Fisher.

Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 2:00pm until time of memorial service at 4:00pm.
