Lewis "Sonny" S. Harding, Jr., 80, of Columbus, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015. He was born on January 31, 1935, in Columbus, to the late Lewis S. Harding, Sr. and Margery (Keener) Harding.
Sonny attended Mifflin High School. In 1970, he and his father founded Harding & Sons Painting, which continues to serve the Columbus community. Sonny was an avid league bowler most of his life. He cherished his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. Sonny was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Harding; sister, Marjorie Roark; and nephews, Mike "Big Mike" Dearth and James Thornton.
Sonny is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Dixie (Wills) Harding; his children, Tommy Harding, Pamela Rife (Michael Stankord), David Harding, Linda (Billy) Smith, and Mark Harding; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Pennell and Shirley Piccione; and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mifflin Cemetery.
