Lewis David Stethem, 87, of Orient, OH, died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Hospital. He was a home builder, President of Stethem Builders Inc., he built homes in Hilliard, West Jefferson and Grove City for over 45 years, retiring in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Lillian Stethem, sisters, Connie and Dolores and son, Jeffrey David in 1984.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita, son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Kathy Stethem, beloved grandchildren, Sam, Kelsey Dotson, Sara Portier, sister-in-law, Carol Bucy, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Larry and Carol Elliott. Dave was a four year veteran in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War as an electrician technician aboard the USS Tucker. After leaving the service in 1952, he was able to attend The Ohio State University on the GI Bill and graduated in December 1956. He was a long time member of the BIA and in 1971 received their Honor Builder award. He was a life member of the OSU Alumni Association and the West High School Alumni Association.
Calling hours will be from 4-6pm, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
A graveside service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH.
