Loretta M. Nelson, 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Westerville, OH. Loretta was born full-blood Mohawk on August 13, 1932 on the Six Nations Reservation in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada to Wilfred and Jessie (Maracle) Garlow.
Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Edgar Nelson, Sr.; son, Theodore Nelson; her parents; siblings, Marion Carr, Sonny Garlow, Helen Jacobs, Grace Lobzun, Ruth Ann Stanek and Tony Garlow.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Linda) Nelson, Warren Edgar Nelson, Jr. and Clifford John Nelson; granddaughters, Michelle Nelson and Katherine Piper; great-granddaughters, Christine, Trinity, Annette and Michelle; sister, LaVerne Siddall; numerous nieces and nephews.
Loretta worked for numerous employers over the last 60 years including Ferry Morse Seed Co., Henry Siegel, Swan Hose, Pontifical College Josephinum and H & R Block part-time for the last 30 years. She loved bowling and the nickel slot machines.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43231. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10 am also at Newcomer NE Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Kingwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loretta's honor to Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 16810, Columbus, OH 43272-5117.
